Applying Osmo Top Oil to Paerock SOLID & PLY

DO NOT APPLY USING INSTRUCTIONS ON THE CAN OF OSMO OIL

It is important NOT to over apply Osmo Oil as this forms a layer which easily scratches and marks

  • Apply a light drizzle (2 caps over 1m2) using a micro fibre cloth or clean rag. Do not use a brush or roller as it will leave streaks.

  • Use a circular motion to lightly spread the oil into the Paperock surface.

  • Remove excess oil with another clean rag using a circular buffing motion, rubbing dry resulting in a consistent finish. Elbow grease is required for best results.

  • It is important NOT to over apply, ensuring all surplus is rubbed off.

  • Over application will cause the finish to scratch easily. No more than one coat is required. Leave to dry at least 24 hours ensuring good ventilation.

Over Applying OSMO Top Oil

  • In most cases when Osmo oil has been over applied, the surface will scratch very easily. The scratches will appear white and, in some cases, will occur using a fingernail.

    As Paperock is non-porous, it does not soak into the material like timber. Osmo Topoil is a microporous oil and sits in the micro pores of the surface. If over applied, the oil will build up a film on the surface and that is what is scratching, not the Paperock.

  • • Oil should be completely removed using Osmo intensive cleaner

    • Osmo oil should be reapplied using methods explained above.

Rejuvenating a Paperock Surface

Paperock, may require rejuvenating every 2 years to ensure the surface is maintained;

Paperock will gain a patina over time of light scratches and blemishes;

If the surface has faded due to exposure to UV, we recommend the application of a black tinted oil after removing and cleaning the previously oiled surface with Osmo Intensive cleaner.

After cleaning and removing existing oil, if there is scratching, the surface can be lightly sanded using and orbital sander (with dust extraction) with 240 grit sandpaper.

Applying Osmo Top Oil to Paperock TACTILE edges

 Osmo oil should ONLY be applied to the plywood edges of the Paperock TACTILE.

If oil gets onto the PaperockTactile surface it can be removed using white spirits then rubbing with a Magic eraser.

Cleaning Paperock

Test cleaning products on small areas of surface before applying overall.

• Benches should be wiped down with water soluble, non-abrasive tools and cleaning products. We recommend Osmo Spray cleaner.

Bleach based products are NOT to be used on Paperock surfaces, as it will damage the finish. Osmo Spray Cleaner can be purchased from Paperock or an Osmo distributor in your area or search for ‘Osmo Spray Cleaner’ in Google to find the best place to purchase.
