All you need to know about Paperock SOLID

Paperock SOLID is made from paper, bonded with phenolic resin and heat/pressure cured making it a remarkably strong composite building material.


Material

  • is made from layer upon layer of paper from renewable sources and bonded with phenolic resin and heat/pressure cured.

    It is the same material the whole way through.

  • No, Paperock SOLID is a composite material made of Phenolic resin and paper.

    There is no silica in any of of Paperock’s products.

  • The paper is FSC certified from renewal sources and responsible forestry practices.

  • Paperock once compressed and cured does not omit any dangerous VOC’s.

  • We recommend Paperock SOLID and Paperock PLY be finished with Osmo oil.

  • Yes, a very minute amount. Did you know timber has a very small amount of formaldehyde in it? It is comparable to a natural timber bench.

  • Because Paperock SOLID is impervious to water it is suited to an outdoor environment.

    A recommend exterior grade oil should be applied to all visible surfaces.

    Please note that in high sunlight areas the colour may fade over time.

  • Yes, Paperock SOLID is ideal in wet areas as it is impervious to water.

  • Due to the material’s solid nature it has a fantastic strength to weight ratio.

  • Paperock SOLID can withstand heat up to 180 degrees Celsius.

    The composite and resin manufacturing process ensures that Paperock can take significant impact with minimal damage.

  • Paperock is basically impervious to water absorption, with stains being a rare event. Red wine can sit overnight and need only a wipe down in the morning.

  • Very strong based on strength to weight ratio. A 18mm thick bench top can be cantilevered to 450mm, much further than any natural stone or stone composite such as Caesar stone.

Fabrication

  • Yes, it can, using an orbital sander with dust extraction.

  • Paperock can be cut with a Panel saw or CNC and in some cases a track saw with a quality blade.

  • The edges can be sanded to remove saw marks and then oiled with Osmo oil.

Sizes & Colours

  • Paperock SOLID comes in two sizes:

    Our standard sheet: 2450 x 1230mm

    Our larger sheet: 3050 x 1230mm.

    Both sheets come in the following thicknesses: 25mm, 18mm, 10mm and 6mm.

  • Just black. If you are after a colour, please consider our Paperock Tactile range.
